DANNY CANNON
Danny Cannon was born and raised in Luton, England. He is a Film/TV executive producer, director and writer. He is widely known for executive producing the groundbreaking television series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, along with directing the pilot episode of what would become a 15-season, multi-series spinoff, billion dollar franchise success.
A rarity in the entertainment industry, Danny is one of few TV pilot directors to also work as a key writer. He has directed 16 television pilots, 13 of which have been ordered to series, including: Gotham (FOX), Nikita (CW), Training Day (CBS), Dark Blue (TNT), Pennyworth (HBO), The Forgotten (ABC), The Tomorrow People (CW), The Eleventh Hour (CBS), Gotham Knights (CW) - see IMDB for more.
Danny began making films as a teenager, which led to him win the BBC Young Filmmaker of the Year Award. He attended the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, England and soon after graduation made his debut feature film The Young Americans followed by the big-budget Sylvester Stallone action film Judge Dredd, and the teen cult classic I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
Cannon's soiree into Primetime Television came when Jerry Bruckheimer hired him to direct the pilot episode of CSI. Cannon wrote and directed multiple episodes of the show and subsequently, he went on to direct the pilot of CSI: Miami. He simultaneously executive produced all three CSI series and at one time had five television shows on air, which he was credited for executive producing.
Danny's next big hit was FOX’s Gotham, which he directed the pilot of and proceeded to executive produce, direct and write for its five season duration. In 2014, the show won the Critics Choice Award for 'Most Exciting New Series', and received multiple Emmy nominations during its run, including 1 win.
From 2020-2022, Cannon directed and executive produced all three seasons of Pennyworth (HBO).
During the COVID quarantine of 2020 Danny was creatively inspired to collaborate with his friend (and Gotham composer) David Russo to compose a series of albums/tracks for fellow screenwriters, titled: Music for Writers with genres including Romantic Comedy, Mystery and Horror.
